The Plaza: was in der Nähe ist, wie man hinkommt und wann man fährt · 2026

Residents share lobby corridors with steady tourist crowds stepping off Grand Army Plaza. Anyone settling here trades residential seclusion for immediate Central Park paths and constant Midtown foot traffic.

Grand Army Plaza lends its name to the landmark Midtown structure standing at the southeastern boundary of Central Park.

The property operates as both a luxury hotel and a residential condominium building in Midtown Manhattan. The structure stands on the western edge of Grand Army Plaza along Central Park South. Corporate ownership belongs to the Qatari firm Katara Hospitality. Long-term condominium residents and transient guests share common spaces originally finished with carved woodwork, decorative lion motifs, and expansive stained glass.

Prior to development, the ground accommodated the New York Skating Club before municipal auctions subdivided the parcels. The architectural firm McKim, Mead & White redesigned the interior layouts during early reconstructions, preparing the site for commercial redevelopment by the Plaza Realty Company. Daily life here places residents directly beside heavy commercial traffic and steady visitor streams rather than quiet residential streets.

Perhaps the most relevant topic, besides "Work," is "Travel." I think in this blog I will answer all the burning questions. WHERE TO GO DURING YOUR FIRST SUMMER IN AMERICA? HOW IS IT BEST TO TRAVEL? And of course: HOW TO SPEND LESS MONEY? So, WHERE TO GO DURING YOUR FIRST SUMMER IN AMERICA? Most likely, you already know the answer to this question without me, although everyone has their own opinion. Of course, the first time in America, you need to visit all the top spots. Unfortunately, I haven't been to all of them, but I think by combining my experience and the experience of my friends, I can reveal the charms of each place to you, and my tips will prove useful. First of all, you need to visit New York, and that was the first place I ended up, well, after the airport of course. Unfortunately, I was in New York, you could say just passing through, and I was only at Times Square. Places that I want and plan to visit, and which my friends have visited and were delighted with, are: Empire State Building – you must go to the very top. Statue of Liberty – it is desirable not just to see it, but to see it from the ferry. Central Park – you need to visit, if only because it is an incredibly beautiful place. Joker Stairs – for me, this place has become a new goal. The Plaza – the hotel from the movie "Home Alone." American Museum of Natural History – quite an interesting museum in itself, and the filming location for the movie "Night at the Museum." These are just some of the attractions of huge New York, there are still a bunch of places that will not leave you indifferent. But as you might have noticed, all these places have appeared in many iconic films, and in general, it seems to me that America is one big continuous movie! So, the main advice I can give regarding traveling around New York is that it is better to do it when you have just arrived, while you have not yet started working, you can easily break away, not worry that you will not have enough time, and most importantly, while you are not tired. The next place is Los Angeles, California. I think everyone here will agree that without the Hollywood Hills, Universal Studios, the Walk of Fame, Beverly Hills, and the Pacific coast, America is not America. I went on this trip as part of a tour with a large group, but I advise you to go with friends on your own, it is much more convenient and interesting to discover everything yourself and stop in the places where you want and for as long as you want. Also, I visited Miami, and I must say that this place is the one I remember most, and the memories from there are the brightest, most colorful, and warmest. When I arrived in Miami, I was there for one day, and then I boarded a cruise ship that traveled around the Bahamas for 5 days, then returned to Miami again and was there for another 4 days. There are no special attractions in Miami, but there are the most beautiful beaches (Miami beach), and the coolest parties in the Spanish style. This is a very soulful place! But the most important advice – definitely travel on a cruise ship, you will not regret it. There you will truly feel like royalty, find interesting activities and programs for yourself, and make new acquaintances, and most importantly, truly relax. Also, I advise you to visit Washington to feel the atmosphere of America and visit famous places. Visit Niagara Falls, as the most incredible place, this sight will make you hold your breath and open your mouth in admiration. It was also very interesting to visit Las Vegas, the most sparkling city, and the Grand Canyon, at the sight of which you will also be breathless. And a few more tips: 1) Do not plan several trips in a row, you will get tired and the desire to travel and discover the world will disappear, and it may also happen that you want to stay somewhere longer, then you will have to change plane tickets, and this is extra spending; 2) Try street and national food, this will create a special atmosphere; 3) Of co

My Big Apple

Stepping into Central Park, I found myself in a true green corner of paradise. Walking through it, you recall all the movies filmed here (and there are a huge number of them—just look at the view of the Plaza Hotel, where famous films like Bride Wars and Home Alone were shot). Many spots offer beautiful views of the skyscrapers. The grass is perfectly green everywhere, and the trees are manicured. It is probably the cleanest place in New York; it is so clean that people walk barefoot, lie on the grass without a blanket, have picnics, or just read, relax, and dream. A sense of calm and romance reigns in the park, with the massive skyscrapers and all the hustle and bustle of New York left behind. Top of the Rock: You absolutely must visit this at least once in your life to see NY from an unreal height (69th floor) and take gorgeous photos for memories. Perhaps the view from Rockefeller is slightly better than from the Empire State Building. Firstly, you can see the Empire State Building itself perfectly, and secondly, you have a great view of Central Park. Tickets are not cheap, around $40-50 depending on the time of year and time of day; prices rise significantly before sunset, but it is worth it! The subway in New York is called the Subway. The New York City Subway is the largest subway system in the world by the number of stations. The huge number of lines and stations scared me at first, but Google Maps came to the rescue, where our entire route was laid out in minute detail. If you read reviews online about the New York subway, you'll be afraid to go down there. Everyone talks about the terrible condition of the stations, the dirt, and rats the size of dogs. Thank God I didn't encounter any rats, but otherwise, it's true. You won't see wide, clean, and bright stations like in Minsk. You will see uniformity and gloominess. You won't see marble, beautiful chandeliers, or mosaics here. However, I loved watching the people; they are all so bright, interesting, and completely different. You can meet anyone here: from ordinary workers with Starbucks coffee cups and Black musicians brilliantly playing jazz, to local homeless people or crazy individuals (there are a huge number of them here, believe me). On 08/29/2019, I watched my best sunset. There is nothing better than ending a day in New York by watching the sunset. There are many places in the city to enjoy this stunning spectacle. We decided to take the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry is free, and many people use it to take photos of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan from the bay. It runs from Manhattan to Staten Island and back. It takes half an hour each way. It runs frequently and there is plenty of space. You need to choose the side from which the Statue of Liberty will be visible, and then you can take a photo against its backdrop. But if you are specifically going to see it, it is better to take a special boat that goes to the very foot of the Statue of Liberty, because in reality, it turned out to be very small.

Bonus.

If you have read my blog to the end, then thank you. And here is a little bonus for you. A post about cinematic nostalgia. The traditional viewing of the Christmas double feature "Home Alone" brought back many nostalgic thoughts about the places I managed to visit while in the USA. Yes, I wasn't in big cities for that long. In the aforementioned New York, I spent a total of about 5 days. No more. But that was enough for me to visit some of the places that once became part of big shoots, directors' shouts, and the general hustle and bustle of the entire team of makeup artists, set decorators, camera operators, and, of course, actors. It evokes some interesting feelings. The places you watch while sitting in a cinema or at home in front of the TV turn out to be just meters away from you. It is worth noting that I did not set out to visit such locations. It just happened by accident. I only found out about some of them today while researching the topic online. Camera. Action? 1. Since we're on a roll, we should, of course, start with "Home Alone 2", the filming of which, as you know, took place almost entirely in New York. True, at the time of filming, the author of these lines wasn't even in the project, let alone in New York, but, to be honest, the film still evokes nostalgia. Mentioning this picture, a first-class hotel where Culkin's character lived immediately comes to mind. Of course, I couldn't let myself pass by the famous The Plaza, but I didn't go inside. I don't think I would have been welcome there. By the way, speaking of time and the difference, at the end of the film, Kevin was presented with a bill for $967.43 for all his luxury services, and at the moment, according to rumors, just one night in a room starts from $2000-2200. An equally important part of the film was Central Park, which "swallowed" the poor lonely hero in the middle of the night, but also led to a new friend. I was lucky that, without even walking half the park, I ended up in exactly those places. These places have united many films at different times. From the more childish Stuart Little to... yes, yes, I have no doubt that most of the girls (young ladies, ladies) have now recognized these places thanks to the next frame. In addition to the above, you can follow in the footsteps of the film "Home Alone 2" (and a dozen others) by arriving at the main square of the city - Times Square. In the picture, let me remind you, the main character's mother rushes past the souvenir shops of the square and asks passersby if they have seen a little boy. For comparison, I will just show Times Square in '92 and '14. For those going to New York, I can also mention Rockefeller Center, which I, in my stupidity, did not visit. This is the one with the "biggest Christmas tree in the city". 2. Since I started talking about Central Park, I will add one more place that I want to note. This is a huge orchestral shell, which is personally known to me from a shot in the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's", but this is not the only film that was shot there. So everyone will have their own associations. In general, having googled it, I realized that it was created for various kinds of performances by groups or orchestras, but such a structure is now used more for photo shoots or, as you can see, for cinema. Although some street musicians still perform here, hoping for sound amplification. For example, #cityofthesun, whose performance I caught and it impressed me immensely. Listen for interest's sake. By the way, speaking of "Breakfast at Tiffany's", I also managed to get to the famous store, but for some reason, I can't find the photo among tons of my shots. Although I stood in the very place where one of my favorite women in the world stood. Lovely. Of the places I didn't get to in Central Park, I can mention: the zoo where the animals from "Madagascar" lived, as well as the famous fountain where the opening credits of the series "Friends" were filmed. There are dozens of such pl

NEW YORK through the eyes of those who have lived there for a week.

After leaving Philadelphia, we headed to New York to the Port Authority on 42nd Street. We arrived at 3 a.m. New York's 42nd Street is one of the most famous streets, right up there with Broadway. Anyone who has been to New York for more than a day knows that Times Square is there. New York is a city for tourists. It is filled with diners, restaurants, hotels, and hostels. We had booked a room in advance at a Chinese hotel in Chinatown, Manhattan. I didn't share secrets with Demi Moore, of course, but it was still Manhattan. Our hotel had a very convenient location; we could walk around all night and not worry about anything. We actually walked across the Brooklyn Bridge several times, back and forth, and launched Chinese lanterns with girls from New York University. We were in New York for a week, so we saw almost everything in Manhattan. We didn't go to Harlem, of course, or the Bronx, or Brighton Beach. One day we took the ferry to Staten Island (a quiet, cozy place). We never made it up to the Statue of Liberty because we decided to save something for next year, and I wanted to go up to the crown (you have to buy tickets for that a month in advance). We went to the Metropolitan Museum, but we didn't make it to Madame Tussauds. It's a pity, of course, but I believe in second chances. By the way, the food in Chinatown is very good)) just saying, and in Brooklyn, you can find Russian shops where goods are inexpensive, and of course, the Ukrainian restaurant in the center of Manhattan is also quite captivating. Honestly, there is one place I would return to New York for every single time: Central Park. It is a colossal park with an amazing landscape, a playground, a soccer field, rocks, and a lake in the center. You can meet all sorts of incredibly talented people there, from a harpist sitting at the entrance to a magician at the other end of the park. The park connects all parts of Manhattan. We just walked through it for three days in a row. It's like a separate world, a separate island, with beauties unique to it. From the south side of the park, you can reach the Plaza Hotel, the very hotel where 'Home Alone' was filmed. New York is essentially a series of all those places you often see on TV, whether it's 'Spider-Man' or the show 'Gossip Girl'. Little Italy reminds me of 'The Godfather' trilogy. I walked through all the places where Chuck Bass spun his intrigues, including the 'Empire'. The transparent Apple cube looks cool) This turned out to be a very long story about how I visited America for the first time. To everyone thinking about whether to go or not, I don't just advise it, I shout with all my might: 'YES, GO!' It is a unique chance to see the country we could only dream of, the very one we see on our TV screens; you can become a part of it. The main thing is to take the right step. I just ask you not to be afraid of anything; the USA, like the journey itself, is not dangerous or scary at all, you just have to want it. Try. The impossible is possible, everyone has chances, as well as options. Don't be afraid to go alone; you will find friends there with whom you can both live and travel. Good luck. And thanks to the organizers for the opportunity to share my trip. I will definitely write about next year) I'm planning on San Francisco this time, Chicago, and Detroit. Hello to all Eminem fans, see you next summer at his concert. I love the world, people, and of course, InterExchange... ...dreams come true one day, you just have to want it...
