Über den Ort

Khartoum Stadium anchors national football history and remains the primary proving ground for international athletic fixtures.

Khartoum Stadium anchors the capital football scene as the primary home ground for the national football team. While constructed as a multi-purpose athletic venue, football matches dominate the calendar throughout the year. Men and women compete on the central pitch, drawing dedicated followings from across the urban area. Long-term visitors find that international match days alter neighborhood transit entirely.

The grounds originally opened under the name Municipal Stadium to stage continental football during the African Cup of Nations. Continental championships returned across subsequent decades, including further editions of the African Cup of Nations alongside the African Nations Championship. Extensive renovation work overhauled the spectator seating and athletic amenities to satisfy modern continental tournament standards.
