Über den Ort

A modern glass concert hall rests atop a historic brick warehouse on the Grasbrook peninsula.

Locals call the complex Elphi, recognizing the glass structure erected above the brick base of the historic Kaispeicher warehouse. The venue houses the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, staging regular symphonic repertoires alongside major international events such as the European football draw. Prolonged schedule postponements and heavy expenditure increases defined the municipal project before public performances began.

Reaching the hall involves multiple transit alternatives across the HafenCity district. Commuters utilize the metro line running through Baumwall station or board local buses stopping directly at Am Kaiserkai. Regular passenger ferries run across the harbour waters between St. Pauli Piers and the dedicated dock at the concert site, giving residents and long-term workers an efficient water route that avoids inner-city traffic.
