About the place

Dual-use operations shape daily traffic across the airfield runways.

The airfield began as an aviation testing ground where Jan Kašpar and Eugen Čihák conducted early flight experiments before establishing Aviatické družstvo Pardubice. The site expanded from local club hangars and glider training facilities into a military pilot academy. Although wartime bombing destroyed the original structures, the grounds were rebuilt as a dedicated base for fighter and reconnaissance air wings.
