Points Programme Rules
Points are the accounting units of the IEC loyalty programme. They are a
discount entitlement, not money and not an electronic means of payment.
## Closed loop
1. Points are never exchanged for money, including on withdrawal from a
programme — refunds are made in Points.
2. Points cannot be transferred between users.
3. Points cannot be purchased.
4. Points are redeemed only against services of the operator and its
services. Third-party services — flights, insurance, accommodation —
cannot be paid for with Points.
## Rate and redemption
100 Points = 1 USD. Points can cover up to 50% of the price of a programme,
subscription or service.
## Earning
Points are granted for inviting paying participants, for mastered catalogue
programmes and for activity in the services. IEC ID is the sole issuer.
## Expiry
Points expire after 12 months without any account activity. The nearest expiry
date is shown in the Points section; we warn 30 and 7 days in advance.
## Abuse
Points obtained by circumventing these rules are reversed by a compensating
entry. The decision can be appealed through support and is reviewed by a human.
